The Right Mix October 10, 2008 Calico (Friendswood, Texas USA) I tried the berry flavered mix 1 protein drink and was pleasantly surprized. The mixed berry flaver is quite good and the consistency is creamy somewhat like a milk shake. I drank it chilled and found it to be very refreshing with no after taste like some protein drinks I've tried. And this is especially important, it did not upset my stomach. I've sampled quite a few of similar drinks that made a seriously negative impression on my digestive system the next day.
Yummy, Intially Filling, Quick...But Contains Sugar! September 27, 2008 O. Brown (Twopeas, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
*** I certainly enjoyed this "protein and antioxidant drink". It tasted like a combination of berries and bananas (even though there are no bananas in it!) and I very much enjoyed the taste. I like the combination of 29g carbohydrates and 15g protein, but wish it didn't contain cane sugar and cane juice. I am trying to lose weight, so all that sugar won't be helpful to me---it will make my blood sugar bounce all over the place! This drink only contains 200 calories, so it's more of a quick snack than a meal. With all of the sugar, I was hungry an hour or so later, too. Adding a little more fat would help satiety, too---there are only 2.5g of fat from added extra light olive oil. If you tolerate sugary processed drinks, this is one of the healthier and tastier ones. As for me, I'd rather get my nutrition elsewhere. ***
Better Than The Mango September 25, 2008 Jason W. Bellenger (Wyoming, Michigan, United States) The closest product that I can think the Mix reminds me of is the Tropicana fruit smoothie drinks, although this one does not have as much flavor as the Tropicana smoothies. While I would not drink this on a regular basis it is a decent mix, full of nutrients and vitamins. Drink this is you want to get a good dose of protein and antioxidants. I like the Berry flavor over the Mango one.
Good as a supplement. Not good as a drink. September 25, 2008 Kevin Nicholls (Milford, MI) Reading the label on this, you'll see almost instantly that this isn't the sort of thing that you keep in your refrigerator to offer friends when they come over -- unless your friends are die-hard exercise fanatics. However, it is pretty convenient to have with you if you're going on a day-long hike or similar activity, and don't want to stop for a meal. The flavor is... well... about what I'd expect from a product that isn't meant to be consumed like a soft drink. It tastes like artificial berries, with a bit of a tart bite. As others have said, there's certainly some bulk to the liquid. I don't know that I'd go as far as calling it "chalky", but it absolutely has a unique texture to it. Personally, I'd choose this over any nutrition bar I've tried. But I think the only time I'd ever actually want to drink this would be as a meal replacement.
