Great for overall baking January 24, 2008 Mom of Two 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My kids require gluten free diets. The one thing they missed most? Breads, cookies, tortillas.. All the stuff that is hard to come by! I originally tried buying individual flours and mix them in the right proportion to get my recipes to come out, but I could never get it just right. I decided to try this flour and I haven't looked back.
The reviewer who noted there is no xanthan gum is right on the money- I have found with all of my recipes it is necessary- I add a teaspoon per cup of flour used. I can get about 4 cups out of a bag.
I do like the bean flours- the taste is nice to us, and I like the protein in them. My children love the tortillas I make with this flour mix! You can pretty much use any recipe you have, and just sub it in instead of having to convert how much of your special flour to use compared to the recipe.
Overall this mix saves me a lot of time- I buy it on the subscribe and save plan so we save money too!
Great Pre-packaged flour! December 17, 2007 Catherine Ferguson (Austin, TX, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This flour works awesome! I have used it as a replacement flour for several different recipes from cookies to gravy to chicken fried steak. In fact, I used to mix my own flour but I don't anymore now that I've found this flour. If you don't like bean flour, I would still suggest at least trying this flour as I couldn't tastet the bean flour in the things I made. It also does not have xanthan gum mixed in it, which may or may not be important to you but something you should know.
It is significantly cheaper to buy it from amazon than from the store.
This contains bean flour...yuck November 27, 2007 GFMom I really tried to like this but I personally do not like the smell or taste of bean flour. I used it for the topping in homeade chicken pot pie and it tasted awful.
Gluten Freedom! August 13, 2007 K.A.C. (Woodstock, CT USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This flour has given me a sense of freedom. It has allowed me to make foods that I thought I would never get to eat again. I have used this flour to make zucchini bread, fried chicken and even blueberry cobbler and all have turned out excellent. If you don't tell anyone, they won't even notice that you have made something gluten-free.
