5 out of 5 stars Excellent Cooker   May 2, 2008
powerserge (Bay Area, CA)
I purchased this rice cooker after extensive research and I'm literally using it every day! I love it that much. The fuzzy logic cooks me a perfect side of rice every time. It even cooks the boxed rice mixes perfectly. I've experimented with different styles and types of rice and they all come out very good after cooking. Overall I'm very pleased with the quality of the product and the way it cooks.

5 out of 5 stars perfect rice, love that it multitasks   April 14, 2008
s. palmer (stowe, VT)
the measuring instructions are a bit baffling at first but after figuring it out it makes perfect rice...(pre-rinsing is definitely key as well!)
i've also hd great success steaming veggies and slowcooking homemade soup and chili

a great looking item as well

1 out of 5 stars Going back to basic rice cooker   April 12, 2008
DC-Brooklyn (Brooklyn, NY)
I've used this unit for several months, almost daily. It cooks decent rice, though not significantly better than does a $30 ordinary electric rice cooker. This cooker is difficult to keep clean. There is a removeable lower lid. The non-removeable upper lid is attached to the main unit and collects rice "gunk" during the cooking process. This has to be wiped away -- not easy to do when you can't use running water. The cooking bowl is touted as thick guage steel. Unforunately, I dropped mine. It became misshapen from the fall, and no longer fits in the cooking unit. I'm going back to a $30 regular electric unit -- the kind I had for ten years, that cooked rice fine, and was easily cleaned.

1 out of 5 stars Not dependable   March 21, 2008
Andy Sexton (Nashville, TN)
I had my first one of these maybe a month before it died when the screen froze and the buttons quit working. Sanyo shipped me a second unit. The second unit lasted over a year before it died in a similar manner. The clock still seems to work, but you can't push buttons.

It's kind of bulky for a digital clock, so I give it one star.

I used the second one quite frequently for steaming, cooking rice, and cooking steel cut oats. When it worked it was fine. I just expect appliances to be more dependable.

4 out of 5 stars Ricer/Steamer   March 10, 2008
Atlanta Dog Lover (Norcross, Georgia USA)

This is a great machine for steaming veggies - it has a nice size basket to hold the veggies so that they steam fairly evenly and quickly. It makes excellent rice but takes much longer than cooking on the stove which is the only reason I marked 4 stars versus 5! Previous reviews I had seen talked about a plastic smell which I did experience the first time I used the machine but which then disappeared!
