Product Description Helen's Asian Kitchen 9" Bamboo Rice Paddle (also called a shamoji) is the perfect tool for stirring and serving rice. It is also an agile tool to form rice for nigiri-sushi. Bamboo is less absorbent than wood and therefore easier to keep clean and sanitary. It is also a sustainable resource. Safe for use on non-stick cookware surfaces. Dimensions: 9"
Amazon.com Review Thanks to its hardy bamboo materials, this rice paddle from Helen's Asian Kitchen is durable, lightweight, and resistant to moisture. Shaped with a wide shallow bowl, the piece scoops rice without mashing it and doubles as a spreader when making maki-zushi. Gentle on cookware, the paddle does not scratch nonstick or porcelain rice cookers and cleans up by hand or in the dishwasher. It measures 9 inches and coordinates with turners and spatulas from Helen's Asian Kitchen line. --Emily Bedard

Inexpensive and Great Quality September 25, 2008 EdGruberman (Tucson, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In the end it's just a rice paddle. But this is a very inexpensive one that is great quality. Bamboo seems to last forever and this one has a nice look and feel to it. Better than I expected compared to some other really cheap ones I've bought before in the supermarket. The existing picture is a bit misleading. The one I got has a small engraving in it's end (I think "Helen's Kitchen" but it's very stylized and kind of small, so the second word is almost illegible). And mine is a bit of a darker tan color as compared to the almost light yellowish-white look of the picture. It also has a hole in the end of it if you want to hang it somewhere, I guess. I think I like what I got better than the picture led me to believe what I had purchased.
good July 16, 2008 Jack (Mount Pleasant MI USA) The paddle is in good condition when i receieved it, and it's easy to use, clean.

This paddle is OK, didn't really need it; the rice steamer I bought came with a paddle so now I have two.
